While the others gathered supplies, Darius made his way out to some tall grass. There, he stood in awe as he watched a flock of Gallimimuses race through the plants. They would come to a stop, then peck at the ground like some kind of prehistoric ostriches.

Darius’s dad had loved the Gallimimuses. Darius had sworn that there was no way he was going to leave Isla Nublar without seeing them. He owed his dad that much.

Darius couldn’t take his eyes off the dinosaurs! And apparently, one of the Gallimimuses couldn’t take her eyes off Darius, either. The dinosaur noticed him and took a step closer to Darius. Then another. Their eyes met, and Darius couldn’t believe his good fortune.

Then the radio crackled, and the Gallimimus stopped approaching.

“Captain Kenji to Dariusaurus,” came the voice over the radio.

Darius picked up the radio. “Go for Dariusaurus.”

“You’re sure that’s the call sign you want?” Kenji asked.

“Didja need something?” Darius asked, a little impatient.

“Uh…yep! Just wanted to let you know that I’ve got this whole ‘in charge’ thing on lock.”

“I know, man,” Darius said sincerely. “I believe in you.”

They signed off, and Darius put the radio in his pocket.
